Small Business (SHOP Assistance)
Pay or Play- Reporting- (SHOP) Tax Credit:
Many employers are asking should we play, pay, or play differently with a premium reimbursement program? The decision is not always easy or straightforward. Ultimately, employers want to provide a health benefit that is valuable to employees (i.e. recruitment and retention), and has value to the employer (i.e. the best benefit for the cost).  Our Global Association of Fraternal Foundations will provide the answers you need.
We'll even show you how to save employees and employers a combined 50% on health insurance costs.
  • Allow employees a full choice of health insurance plans.
  • Provide employees with better, more flexible health insurance options.

See if you qualify for the SHOP Marketplace:
In order to use the SHOP Marketplace to offer coverage to your employees, your business needs to meet certain requirements:

  • You must have 50 or fewer full-time equivalent (FTE) employees. Use our FTE Calculator to see if you have 50 or fewer FTEs as they’re counted for SHOP eligibility.
  • You must offer coverage to all of your full-time employees. Generally this means those working 30 or more hours per week on average. You don’t have to offer coverage to your part-time employees – generally those who work 29 hours per week or fewer.
  • In most states, at least 70% of your full-time employees must enroll in your SHOP plan. To see what percentage applies in your state, see the question “How many of my employees must enroll in SHOP?” at the bottom of this page.
  • Employers who enroll in SHOP coverage between November 15 and December 15 each year can offer SHOP coverage without meeting this percentage requirement.

Medicare Extra Help Assistance
Part D & Part B premium payments:
Anyone who has Medicare can get Medicare prescription drug coverage. Some people with limited resources and income also may be able to get Extra Help with the costs— monthly premiums, annual deductibles, and prescription co-payments—related to a Medicare prescription drug plan. The Extra Help is estimated to be worth about $4,000 per year. Many people qualify for these big savings and don’t even know it. Our Global Association of Fraternal Foundations will screen you and if eligible enroll you.

What do I need to know?
Most of the questions on the application are about resources and income. If you are married and living with your spouse, we need to know this information about both of you. Family members, caregivers and other third parties can help you complete the application. The worksheet on the next page can help you decide if you are eligible and can assist you in completing the actual application for Extra Help. The worksheet is not an application.

To prepare:
• Identify the things you own alone, with your spouse, or with someone else, but do not include your home, vehicles, burial plots, life insurance policies, or personal possessions; • Review all your income; and • Gather your records in advance to save time.

The records you’ll need are:
• Statements that show your account balances at banks, credit unions, or other financial institutions; • Investment statements; • Stock certificates; • Tax returns; • Pension award letters; and • Payroll slips. We won’t ask for proof to support the information you provide, but we’ll match your information with data available from other government agencies to make sure it is correct.

Information Building & Guidance:
Structured program designed to enlist the help and direction of local agents and companies to provide training programs which center around the needs of our clients.  Our Global Association of Fraternal Foundations will buffer the relationships that could possibly make them whole.

Find affordable healthcare:
Employer coverage is considered affordable - as it relates to the premium tax credit - if the employee’s share of the annual premium for the lowest priced self-only plan is no greater than 9.56% of annual household income. People offered employer-sponsored coverage that’s affordable and provides minimum value aren't eligible for a premium tax credit.

Apply for medicaid in Georgia:
Fill out an application over the phone.  We’ll tell you which programs you and your family qualify for. If it looks like anyone is eligible for Medicaid and/or CHIP, we'll let the state agency know so you can enroll. If anyone is eligible to buy a private insurance plan through the Marketplace, we’ll let you know that and tell you your next steps.

Cover your Employees:
Global Association of Fraternal Foundations can enroll your business into the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) the Healthcare Marketplace helps businesses provide health coverage to their employees

Life Insurance:
The piece of mind consumers can get from owning a life insurance policy to protect their families from untimely death can be hard to quantify.  Life insurance is something many people dread to buy. AA Savannah Life Insurance will be there for you.  Life insurance can be especially daunting since it can get extraordinarily complicated in a hurry. Don't go without life insurance, it can leave your family, spouse or other dependents facing enormous bills and financial obligations with little or reduced income.  Moreover; some consumers go overboard and buy too much life insurance, or get involved in complicated policies that aren't appropriate for them.
